Each year, the Education Committee of the Latino Leadership Alliance of the Lehigh Valley awards several $500.00 scholarships to post secondary students of Latinx descent.  Help us support these students as they embark on their education journeys or continue their studies.

Proceeds will be applied for payment of scholarship recipients’ brunch and the Latino Leadership Alliance Scholarship Fund.

This year we are honoring Judge Nancy Matos with a Life Time Achievement Award.  

Magisterial District Judge Nancy Matos Gonzalez has served on the bench for the past 30 years following her historic election in 1991 when she was elected as the first Hispanic Magisterial District Judge in the State of Pennsylvania.  She serves in South Bethlehem and has carried a caseload well over reportedly 47% over the state average. In office she has attained commendable audit compliance standard reports at both the State and County level and has also served as President of her County Judge’s Association.

Matos Gonzalez is of Puerto Rican decent whose family is from Villalba, Puerto Rico.  Having been born and raised in Bethlehem, Pa., her educational experience includes attending Liberty H.S. in addition to DeSales University, BA; Boston University, MA; and a Certification by the Minor Judiciary Education Board.

Matos Gonzalez and her husband of 26 years, Fernando Gonzalez, reside in Bethlehem. Both she and her husband prioritize the support of varying youth athletic organizations in South Bethlehem and Judge Gonzalez partners with multiple schools in and around her district to encourage the educational and personal advancement of youth.

This event is scheduled to be in person however, in the event that pandemic related circumstances prevent us from holding this in person, the event will be conducted virtually.  If this comes to pass, all attendees will be notified with instructions on how to participate virtually.

Should this event have to be done virtually, your contributions will go to include future scholarships.
