BREAKOUT WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
Building a Foundation for DEI
Description: As organizations begin to mobilize on a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, it is important for the sustainability of the work to do so strategically and with a focus on resources to build accountability and buy-in to the work. Attendees will explore foundational terminology to assist in the launching of a DEI commitment and strategic items to focus on to building a strategic pathway for success.
Bias: Impact on Funders and Fundraising
Description: As we look at the biases that funders can have, we will explore how funders can be biased due to the “rigid” (i.e. WSC) qualifications of the grantee that are suggested/required by the funding source itself. These rigid qualifications can be exclusive to BiPOC organizations and might weed out organizations that are not deemed or reputable in the eyes of funders.
I Don’t See Race: A Conversation About the Impact of Skin Color
Description: Race is real in the United States of America. From the moment the first ship arrived to these shores, race has impacted how we experience life, how we experience the world around us and who we choose to call friends. This conversation will provide historical context regarding the impact of race and what we can do to start to change our responses to its existence.
