Description
Comprised of 60 musicians of all occupations, The Allentown Band is the oldest civilian group in America, performing consistently since 1828. The band is heavily influenced by the late romantic era composer and conductor John Philip Sousa; Sousa himself even recruited Lehigh Valley musicians to play in his own band. Contributing impressively to the culture of the Lehigh Valley community, the band performs overtures transcribed from operas, modern compositions written for concert bands, Sousa marches and more.
